This course will involve the following components:

  • Français sur objectifs universitaires: Working with University of Ottawa professors, students use online resources and tools to develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills to effectively comprehend and communicate ideas in an academic context. They learn the discourse structures, grammar, and vocabulary required for effective communication in their fields of study and develop critical thinking and study skills.
  • Compréhension et expression orale: In this part of the course, students gain additional mastery of the French for Academic Purposes skills practiced in the program, with an emphasis on oral comprehension and expression. In addition to developing their listening and note-taking skills by completing tasks that utilize lectures and presentations from a range of academic disciplines, students also develop their skills giving academic presentations and collaborating on group assignments.
  • Atelier d'intégration et de soutien: Students develop learning strategies and study skills necessary for success at the University of Ottawa.
